If you were previously a Duke Energy utility customer, your Home Protection Plans were included on your monthly electric bill. However, since you are no longer a Duke Energy regulated utility customer, we cannot add the plan amount to your monthly utility bill. Your credit card, debit card or bank account will be charged each month for your selected Home Protection Plan(s). You will receive a confirmation email once your payment has been processed.

The Home Wiring Repair Essential plan covers 120/240-volt wiring, switches, outlets, ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) receptacles, breakers, fuses, fuse/breaker panels, the meter-based housing that's attached to the home and the components inside it.

No, if there are any electrical problems in the home at the time you enroll in the Home Wiring Repair Essential plan, the problems are considered preexisting and are not covered. Preexisting conditions are, however, eligible for a 15% discount off the electrician's normal labor rate.

The Home Wiring Repair Essential plan does not cover building code violations, upgrades and new wiring within a residence, doorbells, intercoms, security system wiring, low voltage wiring, smoke detectors and overloaded circuits. Noncovered repairs are completed at a 15% discount off contractor's normal labor rates to the customer. Refer to the terms and conditions for more details.

Home Wiring Repair Essential is available to residential customers who live in a metered single-family home, townhouse, condominium, or manufactured home. Home Wiring Repair Essential is not available to apartment complexes or commercial properties.

The annual limit amount is $1,500 per calendar year. The $1,500 limit is reset each year beginning in January. As covered repairs are completed during the year, the cost of the repair is deducted from the annual limit. If you go over the $1,500 limit during the year, you will be required to pay the contractor directly for any overages, which will be calculated at a 15% discount off the normal labor rate.

For new enrollments, service agreement coverage begins thirty (30) days after we receive full payment. Claims incurred before the start date are not covered. However, if you're retaining your current Home Protection Plan service agreement at a new address, the 30-day waiting period does not apply.

Noncovered work (that is eligible for the 15% discount) is offered as soon as the customer enrolls in the plan.

You can cancel at any time, but there is a $150 reinstatement fee payable in full when you reinstate the plan.

No, only the circuit and wiring that supplies service to the EVSE is covered for repair. An EVSE may be covered with an individual manufacturer warranty. For additional questions on your manufacturer warranty, please contact your supplier of the EVSE.

Yes, installation requires for the power to be turned off. The technician may request that you turn off any major appliances or sensitive electronics prior to interrupting the power.
